Signs of Christmas, a Wicked-inspired animation

This week I created 1 new stop-motion animation made entirely with paper and inspired by the release of the movie Wicked: For Good today. I loved the original movie so much I’ve just been waiting for the next one! It’s one of the rare movies I’m planning to watch in a theater, with a good friend.

Here’s the animation:

And here’s a look inside my sketchbook. Storyboarding for video is a new process for me. But you have to plan where your video is going before you start, either by drawing it out or, at least, making a list, to ensure you get where you want to go!

The storyboard for my Wicked-inspired animation. I made creative decisions that deviated from it a little but without it, I couldn’t have worked as efficiently as I did.

This week I’ve also been upgrading my computer, too. My old computer wasn’t bought with video processing in mind (read: it can’t handle it). So I’m grateful to have something faster, to keep me moving forward.

Speaking of gratitude, I want to share my deep gratitude for letting me inside your inbox each week and for your support of my creative work.

And because we’re less than a week away, I wish you and your family the happiest Thanksgiving!

“See you” in a couple weeks. ♥

(Another fun animation from this week using a blend of stop-motion, illustration, and digital animation.)
