Today I have a tropical art collection update for you! 5 pieces are finished (or near-finished), which will be used inside a 12-month calendar. This has been a fun theme to explore, with no shortage of ideas. Philodendron leaves, tropical flowers like hibiscus and fuchsias, butterflies, and more…all are fair game.

Choosing colors is a dance between what looks good and what makes my heart sing. I’m also keeping you in mind, dear reader. While I’ve settled on a general color palette, with each piece I have to decide which elements will receive which color. Sometimes that means tweaking the hue of a color, too.
I often iterate between different color combinations for the same art, until I’m convinced I’ve found the best one. That’s subjective, of course. My color preferences vary from day-to-day, sometimes hour-by-hour!
The fish below is a good example. You can see the original version in a video I recently shared on Instagram, and the current version below it. I may add a few more elements to join the fish, TBD.

The closer I get to finishing the collection, the more excited I get to share it with you in real life!
In the meantime, you can see everything currently available inside the web shop, including illustration art cards, notebooks, and stickers.
