If you haven’t met each other, this is Mannie. She’s quite fun to dress up. From handmade jewelry, knitted cowls, t-shirts, and tote bags, she happily models it all.
Like the t-shirt, I designed the Copper House North tote solely for myself, as a way to market this art business I’m so passionate about (& carry all-the-things). Also like the shirt, I didn’t expect anyone else to want one.
I was wrong.
Yes, family is often the first to encourage me in the things I make (thanks, Mom!). In the early days of selling art, a less-wise version of me didn’t fully appreciate that. I mean, of course they’re going to like and buy my art. Isn’t that what they’re supposed to do?
Then as time passed, I realized a family’s support is about way more than the art itself. It’s also about the relationship. They know who I am as a person and vice versa, and we still choose to spend time together. 🙂 It’s the same with friends.
As a business owner, a main goal is to offer something of value. Something that changes the recipient for the better. I’d argue the artwork plays a big role…but it isn’t everything. The relationship with the customer matters, too.
Why am I sharing this with you?
It’s coming from a place of reflection and gratitude…with a promise. Gratitude for your support, whether you’re family or friend, or we’re just getting to know each other. And a promise that, as long as I’m able, I’m going to do my best to serve you well.
Back to the tote bag.
I’m learning that everything I make is worth sharing. Not everyone will want it for themselves and that’s A-OK. But some will, which means it’s better to not “hide” it and make an offer, instead.
So, if you’re interested, you can order the CHN logo bag here.
