Strawberry Sponges

Most mornings my breakfast looks the same: a bowl of oatmeal with unsweet, vanilla almond milk + coconut milk mixed together, a spoonful of peanut butter, chia seeds, a banana, and strawberries.

When I rinse the strawberries under running water, a thought often comes to mind, a statement I read on the internet who-knows-when.

It went something like this:

“You’re not supposed to rinse strawberries under water, because they soak it up like a sponge. Instead, to wash them, lightly dab the strawberries with a paper towel.”

No real rinsing? Just dabbing?

My counterthought is always this:

“Soak it up, baby, soak it up.”
