The Latest Buzz

We’re 11 days into 2024 and I hope you’ve had a wonderful start to the year.

In my last post from November, I alluded to a new dream I had for my art business. Since then, I’ve let it solidify in my mind and start to take shape. And, I thought now is a good time to announce it here.

What is it, you ask?

It’s a natural progression of my art-making, writing, and design:

I’m launching a greeting card collection, for the first time, in 2024. 🎉

This marks a big change in the way I’ve done business in the past.

I’ll be:

1) Starting locally vs. trying to reach the entire world at once.

2) Selling wholesale vs. direct-to-consumer (the latter will likely come later).

3) Doing it under the brand name “Copper House North”.

My goal is to grow slowly and intentionally, while building real relationships with those I serve.

Because the wholesale industry is new to me, I’ve been researching as much as I can. I’ve been binging on podcasts, watching online courses, browsing retail shops, and, of course, making art. It’s been fascinating and has been a wonderful match for my creative/analytical self.

The good news? I’ve just finished my first collection of 18 cards!

Next I’ll be ordering samples, then placing an order to have cards on-hand, and creating a line sheet. There are policies to put in place, a website to update, and last but not least, retailers to research and contact.

Although super fun, it’s a lot of work. I keep reminding myself to take it one day at a time. And, I’ll only have to wear all the hats at the beginning of this new journey. A lesson I’ve learned is that it’s impossible to grow, and focus on the things that light you up, when you’re trying to do it all yourself.

I hope this news excites you, like it does me. Also, in a perfect world, I’ll be writing here more often to share progress updates.

In the meantime, you’ll find me checking off items in my Trello to-do list, making slow and steady progress toward this goal that feels so right.

Here’s to hoping we spread more love and kindness through art and words. ♥
