Re-Pivot

I haven’t fully recognized the pattern until now, but my need to create hits full-on come May. I confirmed this by flipping through my old sketchbooks and, year after year, the summer months are the most prolific.

Just when I was convinced I wanted to head back into coding, the end of May arrived and I couldn’t resist the urge to start drawing again. I even discovered a new combo of art supplies that I love when used together – watercolor and ink on paper. You can see one of my favorites on my Instagram here.

It’s also rekindled my desire to get better at hand-lettering. I’ve made a few pieces in the past week that I adore.

All this to say: I can’t stop being an artist even if I wanted to. Those creative slumps when it seems like I have nothing left to give, are temporary. Always.

I’m going to keep going.
